I have the Citadel LP recording made from the original acetate discs in the Republic Pictures Music Archives at Brigham Young University. The LP does not have cue breakdowns but instrumental selections on both sides bookended with the vocal by Peggy Lee.
Does anyone know the names of the cue breakdowns? Who owns the recording and publishing rights to all the Republic Pictures scores?
Since Citadel Records is a division of Varese Sarabande, can they release any more of the music on cds?

A fine Victor Young score. The Varese CD sounds a LOT better than the LP. I also enjoy the Varese CD to Young's Rio Grande. We need more Victor Young CDs !!!!!

Ten years later (!), here are track titles for the unidentified cues. They aren't "official" titles but rather, appropriate titles I gave them myself after checking the film closely and identifying all the pieces and the prime action they accompany:

I hope one of them can be a better-sounding "Johnny Guitar", without the acetate crackles. Great little score, and one that particularly benefits from having been seen/heard in the film itself before listening to the CD.

I agree Basil. I would guess the only Johnny Guitar music available is the acetate discs.
Yes, it's a score that having seen the film first does indeed help.
I first saw the film nearly 50 years ago and liked it right away. I convinced a friend to watch it about a year ago. After 20 minutes or so he shut it off, didn't like it. It's not a film for everyone.
I bought the LP when it came out about 1980, later got the cd. A good companion cd to Johnny Guitar is Rio Grande.
