Frank Skinner's theme for Universal's THE SUSPECT (1944). The romantic arrangement for Charles Laughton and Ella Raines is exquisite. Edgar Fairchild later used it in his patchwork score for HOUSE OF DRACULA.
The theme itself is heard in the main & end titles:
So many from Piero Piccioni in the late sixties/early seventies. "It Means Love" from Una Tomba Aperta ... Una Bara Vuota (1972) is a fragile, haunting favorite. It was released on a Beat CD paired with Francesco DeMasi's Lo Squartatore di New York some years back, but I understand it has just been recently re-released standalone on vinyl.
I don’t know if there would be any material for an expanded release of this, but it would be most welcome.
I would put Jerry Goldsmith's THE SALAMANDER Love Theme in the hat. I think it's one of his best, but I also believe it's not that well known. Thanks to TADLOW for re-recording the score and releasing it. It inspired the Zoob to write and perform lyrics in honor of the film where Franco Nero made Jock-Strap wrestling fun again!
