Indeed. My French is reasonably good, but it would be a chore to get through it without an English translation.

On Jarre's Instagram account, there were some brief samples from AMAZONIA that reminded me very much of the superlong title track on WAITING FOR COSTEAU. Explorative, ambient stuff capturing the essence of the rain forest, I assume. In any case, intriguing!

What's people's opinion on the EQUINOXE sequel album that was released yesterday?

It has some good stuff -- a bit of the analogue synths of the original, some BLADE RUNNER 2049-like elements. But also some less impressive tracks like "Infinity", which sounds like Jarre trying to be Kygo.

I just listened to it yesterday (on Qobuz) for the first time and thought it was excellent, including the funky "Infinity" cue. One thing that drove me nuts though were that the opening cues were not gapless on the album (it wasn't Qobuz' fault, same on Tidal), even though they were clearly meant to be played gapless. Almost had me turn off the album, because that really sucked. Turns out, Jarre made an extra "continuous mix" version that resolves the issue, though you then don't see the actual track playing in the display anymore. This is weird. Would have been easy to just release the tracks gapless as intended. Anyway, I very much enjoyed Equinixe Infinity.

Cool! Should play it again; it's been a while.

Jarre has been very busy lately; he's actually released one more album after the aforementioned AMAZONIA, called OXYMORE, just last year. Pretty decent -- kind of a mix between the ambiance of AMAZONIA and more accessible melodies.

Yes, indeed, I have OXYMORE, got that last year, in fact, I listed it among my favorite "non soundtrack albums" in some thread a while ago.

And the English autobiography is still not released. Doesn't seem like it will happen, then...

Weird. How hard can it be to translate it?

Frenchmen....they're reluctant to translate anything they've done into English! wink

Meanwhile, there are some good biographical bits in the excellent extra feature documentary "Making the Steamroller Fly" on the old Moscow live DVD. Haven't checked, but I'm sure it's on YouTube.
