I don't know what my "favorite" Newman is... Probably the one I can't get at the moment... It might be THE ROBE; that's probably the one I heard the earliest. I bought the old Decca lp at Sam Goody's in Pittsburgh, simply because I'd never heard it, and it looked like it might be interesting, especially since at the time, approx. 1962, I was devoted to Roman spectacles. You can all only imagine what a pleasant surprise I had! And I've been hooked ever since. I also have a special devotion to DAVID AND BATHSHEBA. I'd LOVE to get the stereo music tracks! (Even just talking about them makes me need to wear a dribble bib!) I am totally looking forward to the KEYS release! Thanks!!!

Well at least I'm in the right place this time lol! After getting bummed out by the sound on the Tsunami edition of this masterpiece, I'm more than excited to hear the SAE!

Yeah, stay away from Tsunami unless there's really no other release for a score you're desperate to have. Yavar

Yavar After I was waiting for both Song of Bernadette and KotK to come in the mail I came on FSM and was immediately told similar. I was really bummed out. Now I have the 2 disc Varese Song and the SAE Keys coming in, and find myself smiling a lot!

I wish SAE/CR was still putting out Newman at Fox scores! They're some of the most cherished and impressive releases in my collection. Thanks for them. Yavar

The Fox mantle has happily been picked up by other labels. Hopefully as long as the tracks hold out releases will continue. We're very happy to have been able to do as many as we did. I must digress to tell a funny story. When we did THE BLACK SWAN, I was going through all the session takes sent to me by Fox. And after listening for an hour or so, there was a slate number and then I hear this wheezy rendition of "Love in Bloom". I nearly fell over. It was obviously a take for THE MEANEST MAN IN THE WORLD that somehow found its way onto the preservation reel of SWAN tracks. Incongruous but enjoyable! lol! Black Swan became an immediate favorite the first time I played it. Great, swashbuckling stuff with all the wonderful Alfred trademarks!
