A too long to hear this great 80's gem of a score, along with his Bev Hills Cop and Fletch scores... maybe one day...

Man I'm so glad somebody else is looking for this stuff too. I've been listening the hell out of the Faltermeyer Fletch tracks recently and just started compiling a mix CD of all available misc Faltermeyer tracks - Axel F, Shoot Out, the Top Gun stuff - and it's pretty slim pickins. His scores absolutely deserve release. Even Kuffs.

Wasn't Kuffs released by Milan?

Yes, KUFFS was released on CD.
'Thief Of Hearts' also contains some killer Faltermeyer music, and there was some great music in 'Beverly Hills Cop 2' as well.
A compilation of film music by Faltermeyer would be nice !

I'm a Faltermeyer fan too - immediate (complete) releases are required of Top Gun, Beverly Hills Cop 1/2 and Tango And Cash. I can't believe Tango And Cash escaped without a release of any kind.

The cue to the final dog fight scene in TOP GUN was released as a B-Side promo.

Not the full score but at least it is something.

I'd love to have any of Harold F's 80s scores on CD (FLETCH, BEVERLY HILLS COP II and TANGO & CASH especially). Odd that a composer who was that popular never had a single complete score release (or even a compilation) besides KUFFS.

Well there is the OOP Running Man score. Have to take what you can get I guess.

Well there is the OOP Running Man score.

Forgot about that one. Still, pretty sad that a guy who was as high-profile as Faltermeyer never had any other CDs. I wonder if this was by his choice? Maybe he just doesn't want any of his scores put out. No telling.

How does one go about getting this part-Rock-Guitar-Bruckheimer-Media-Ventures-influencing /part electrifying definitive synth fest score released in FULL on CD?

I'm talking like the Bond CDs with Jeff Bond sleeve notes, digital remastering and EVERYTHING on there, minus the god-awful Giorgio Moroder songs that you immediately associate with this terrible film.

The score itself deserves it's own release, as at the moment it only exists drowned out by aggressive sound design and f/x, butchered beyond being audible on the film itself.

Jeff Bond, Ford A Thaxton, Lukas Kendall?

This score (along with several others that have been mentioned) are owned by PARAMOUNT who have at this time ZERO interest in seeing score CDs in the market.

In short, put these titles in the drawer and revisit them in a few years.

Guess we can hope for a regime change at Paramount that's got a clue as to what to do with their extensive and languishing music library. Like, oh, I don't know... ALL of the Indiana Jones scores. They out to be arrested for not having albums for Raiders and Temple in print in the U.S. Where's corporate greed when you need it.

I thought Lucasfilm has more control over the Indy scores than Paramount... ???

I hope this and other Faltermeyer stuff is coming out soon. This has REALLY taken a long time!

Agreed. I'd pick up Top Gun in a heartbeat.

I've always hoped for a TOP GUN score release as well! As popular a film that it is, I'm very surprise there has been no official release of the entire score. Perhaps there is not enough material? I don't recall how much score is in the film since there are so many rock tracks. I've always wanted the dramatic piano and guitar music which some people have titled "Cleared To Fly". I had desperately hoped this track would be added on the "Top Gun - Motion Picture Soundtrack (Special Expanded Edition)". But they chose to add the track "Memories" instead. I thought that's an interesting choice. I mean when would you be driving in your car rocking out to TOP GUN and think now would be a great time to hear a really slow guitar and synth lament for the dead? Who makes these decisions? LOL Perhaps "Cleared To Fly" will be released one day, even if it's only a digital download.

LLL has hinted at it - last comments were something along the lines of "Ask Tom Cruise" which I think means he has to sign off on artwork approval - but what do I know? I'm usually wrong. wink

I believe there is more than 30 minutes of score in the film. I have a really nice b***leg CD of it.

On BAD BOYS, LLL solved the problem by releasing a CD without any pictures of Will Smith and Martin Lawrence. A wise choice.
