...anyone know if he's seen a rough cut of the film yet? I guess he'll start working on it soon!

The movie is still being filmed in England. There is no rough cut yet.

There's also an existing thread for this score already.

I hope he’s up to it because it’s really been very quiet since he got back from Engeland. No photo’s or public appearances. Still a bit worried...

John's doing just fine. He went to Ginny Mancini's Twelfth Night party last week. Just a few people there... Norman Lear, Quincy Jones, Leslie Bricusse... I don't think he's working on Ep. 9 until the summer; the schedule is still being worked out.

To Norman Lear, John Williams is a kid!

Well I think he's just being lazy if his sched' is empty til the Summer!!!
You're tellin' me he can't squeeze in a little family drama like STANLEY & IRIS or THE RIVER between STAR WARS films and Spielberg projects.
He's SO shell-fish!

glad to hear he is moving about

Thanks for the update, Mike.

Is there any news if he will be involved in Spielberg's West Side Story in some capacity?

On West Side Story, I would guess YES, even if he's just adapting the Bernstein material.
But almost ALL films benefit from some dramatic scoring at some point and I'm sure JW can squeeze some drama licks between the songs for this one.
Just remember his fantastic scoring on things like GOODBYE MR CHIPS, TOM SAWYER & FIDDLER ON THE ROOF.
