Finally another release from the Malpaso catalogue was announced by LLL for 2019: Morricone's Two Mules for Sister Sara!
Intrada did a number of scores, all outstanding albums: - Joe Kidd (Schifrin) - Escape from Alcatraz (Fielding) - Coogan's Bluff (Schifrin) - High Plains Drifter (Barton)
more to come?
- Play Misty for Me (Barton) - Thunderbolt and Lightfoot (Barton) - The Outlaw Josey Wales (Fielding) - The Gauntlet (Fielding) - The Beguiled (Schifrin) - Eiger Sanction (Williams)
Please do not forget the film FIREFOX! If I remember correctly, Intrade has already tried to release the score of Maurice Jarre, but because of Malpaso so far unfortunately without success. I hope that will change as soon as possible …
That little list is quite old, if fact they're all sold out now. The one everyone wants, The Outlaw Josey Wales would have been released by now if Malpaso were interested in playing ball. Apart from that SAE release from the composers own tapes yonks ago, nothing, not even the Warner album.

I never understand this sort of statement, which pops up on here from time to time, when we continue to see albums come out that we would have thought would be released by now (but weren't). Malpaso is not a sacred text carved in stone, it is a company with human beings whose opinions and priorities sometimes change.
If the can release DRIFTER i doubt Malpaso is the problem.
And what a great score Barton's Drifter is! Would like to see his "Thunderbolt and Lightfoot" released. One of those 60s/70s scores where all the underscore and source music was written by the composer and the source pieces also function like underscore. Composers like Fielding and Schifrin were masters in this, too.
This is what Roger Feigelson said in February regarding Firefox here on the board:
"I’ve had several conversations with Eastwood’s folks and they’ve been nothing but supportive. I’ve taken several runs at Firefox even locating the master Jarre had prepared. There’s something on the WB end that is holding it up but it’s not clear what."
So the issue in this case is WB.
Don´t know how to include properly the link but you can copy and paste it to see the original thread:
"And Malpaso has always been great to work with. If it were simple, it would have been out already."
Sounds like at least this Malpaso scoree will be released by Intrada in the future.
SAE must not have been too put off by whatever complications Roger was referencing when it released the CD I am happy to have of THE OUTLAW JOSEY WALES, back in the 90s sometime... It is seemingly pretty complete and sounds fine. Not sure if the tapes came from Fielding's estate or where.
THE GAUNTLET features an unstructured jazz jam for a score (reportedly as per Eastwood's orders), bearing little or no relation to anything happening on the screen, and is just dreadful to my poor ears. The film imo was not one of Eastwood's better efforts, but then many of them were not.

It's all a matter of taste. I like The Gauntlet very much and Fielding's score fits the movie like a glove. Especially in the opening scene with the music for Eastwood's hangover. And that piece is not even the first track on the old album which is of course not complete. Some pieces of more traditional Fielding-esque underscore are missing.
I compared the album to the music used in the picture:
