I have it on DVD. I watch it several times each Christmas season.
From what I've read the original televised version had Charlie Brown sliding/crashing into a Coca-Cola machine in the opening ice skating scene. Now it's a tree with the glop of snow falling on him.
Having it on DVD is all well and good, but when it first came on, I was but a kid... there WERE no VCRs... no DVDs.... so watching it on network TV - for ME, at least - is the ONLY way to watch it!

5 minutes to go!
I would only watch it live if it were on CBS with the "Special Presentation" intro intact.
Thanks for the heads up, Jimbo! We caught it at 8pm on the left coast. Sure, one could watch this and other holiday classics anytime on DVD and whatnot, but it seems more like a special event when they're on the telly. Nostalger, I reckon.
Just wanted anyone on here who loves to watch this, it'll be on ABC at 8 EST... and it appears it will be the UNCUT version!!
A classic! I don't think I've missed it in the 53 years it's been shown. And it is more nostalgic if you watch it as a broadcast, even with today's commercials. I still fondly recall the days of the ads for Coca-Cola, Dolly Madison, and my favorite of that time - the tiny Santa riding the Norelco electric razor - "Even our name says Merry Christmas - Noelco"!
