Check out the you tube video of Roy and Glen Campbell performing "Ghost Riders in The Sky". Two masters at work. He left us with a lot of great memories.
For me, Roy Clark's version of the Charles Aznavour/Herbert Kretzmer song 'Yesterday When I Was Young' is the definitive one. Heartfelt singing backed by a glorious orchestral arrangement. First heard it in 1969 and it feels all so poignant as years pass by.
Does anybody remember when Roy Clark played cousin Roy Halsey on "The Beverly Hillbillies" and Jethro's a talent agent makes him dress up in that silly outfit and have him perform "The Great Pretender" (he even played his mother!). Absolutely hilarious! R.I.P. Roy Clark.
Does anybody remember when Roy Clark played cousin Ray Jalaey on "The Beverly Hillbillies" and Jethro's a talent agent makes him dress up in that silly outfit and perform "The Great Pretender" (he even played his mother!). Absolutely hilarious! R.I.P. Roy Clark.
I do remember that one! I think Roy was on TBH at least a couple of times. Sadly for "JB, the Talent Agent", if he coulda kept his mouth shut, his career might've lasted more than 10 minutes!
If anyone's interested in how Roy Clark sounded with a symphony orchestra, I recommend the Erich Kunzel/Cincinnati Pops Orchestra album Down on the Farm, which is in effect a great bluegrass and country pop album, just played by a big orchestra with some noted soloists and added ensembles, including Roy Clark and his band.
Roy does a new version of Aznavour's "Yesterday, When I Was Young" that sounds fantastic with the big orchestra backing.
