Might one assume that Mr. Robinson is in consideration for the role?

Not American enough...

That hasn't stopped Cavil and Bale and Jackman.

Godzilla....
Sequel to the AMERICAN series?

Yes. This is part of the Warners/Legendary MonsterVerse, starting with 2014's GODZILLA (the Gareth Edwards directed one) and followed by last year's KONG: SKULL ISLAND. GODZILLA: KING OF THE MONSTERS opens May 2019, and GODZILLA VS KONG is May 2020.

Universal nor DC know how to get a series off the ground and running. Is anyone really excited about the "Universal Classic Monster Series", the "Warner DC Universe Series" or "MonsterVerse Series"? I just don't see legions of fans on pins and needles waiting for the next "exciting" installment. These films are generally dead on arrival.

This is not Universal or DC, so I don't know what you're going on about with your opening comment.

Both previous entries in the MonsterVerse grossed over half a billion dollars, so plenty of people have seen these movies and are waiting for the next ones. These movies are not "dead on arrival".

The 2019 movie is already in the can, and the 2020 movie is already filming, so these movies are coming out in spite of your "Old Man Yells At Cloud" objections.

Yeah, yeah it all goes back to GLOBAL SALES. Put any product in front of enough faces and it will make a profit. That's why all that crap that "exclusively" sells on TV works. The domestic grosses are generally disappointing meaning there isn't the interest they pretend there is for these series. That's my point, I don't think there are big fan bases eager to see the next film in the series.

But there ARE big enough fan bases. Godzilla hit $200M in the US in 2014. Kong hit $168M in 2017 (in a much worse release slot). This is why Legendary's MonsterVerse is still plugging along as planned, unlike Universal's Dark Universe.

Skull Island was amazing. Great fun. It was a monster movie. It wasn't pretending to be anything else.

Godzilla was okay, but the lead actor (not Bryan Cranston dammit) was bland. Just invisible. Fantastic score, though.

Skull Island in my opinion was dreadful. Everything about it. The washed out 70's look. The "Apocalypse Now" stuff, sappy old pop songs, the terrible editing, and shaky cam, couldn't make out what was happening. I remember seeing Kong's feet a lot in the film. A creature like a mile high can just come out of nowhere on unsuspecting humans. The generic "alien" looking creatures that just don't fit the esthetics of a Kong movie. I'll take the intentionally corny classic King Kong vs. Godzilla any day over this.

Godzilla 2014 was also awful. It made it's first 100 million on opening weekend because of the hype. After that it tanked like the shipwreck it was.

I have no idea why Gina Carano is getting roles.

Seems pretty obvious to me.

Maybe you should look at he resume.

I can't seem to find it, but I remember watching a video interview with the director and he kind of went off a little bit, at one point saying there were helicopters in all those ships.
