LP's.

No, really. I had to back up and look to make sure I saw that when I passed by. Even they are taken by the fad.

It's a small section, relatively speaking since they are so big. There's officially 99.5% more of them than score CD's.

I didn't look, but perhaps they are carrying LP players, too. But maybe not (in store as opposed to online), since I suspect the target consumer likely already has one, while those25 and younger can't seem to fit them into any iPod slot*. ;-)

I've saved all my LPs as cherished souvenirs, but I haven't bought one since the late 1980s and wouldn't dream of buying one now.

I saw this as well. What stunned me was seeing new LPs marked at $50.00, and many of them are titles that still sit in my parents' decades-old record collection, like Bob Dylan.

Fifty freakin' dollars? Really?

It's a status/prestige thing. People don't buy vinyls today because they want to listen to them. They buy them because they're wealthy and "hip."

Though I don't know what type of buyer buys their vinyls from Wal-Mart...

The only vinyl I've purchased at Walmart was a "PRIVATE PROPERTY: DO NOT ENTER" sign.
