Veteran Hollywood composer David Shire is responsible for some of film's most iconic scores, including 'The Taking of Pelham 1-2-3'; Francis Ford Coppola's 'The Conversation' and 'All The President's Men'. He joins Matthew Sweet to look back over his long career scoring films. Featuring soundtracks include 'Farewell My Lovely', 'The Conversation', 'The Taking of Pelham 1-2-3', 'All The President's Men', 'Zodiac', 'Hindenburg', 'The Big Bus', 'Saturday Night Fever', '2010', 'Short Circuit', 'Norman Rae', and 'Return To Oz'.

Just listened to this; always good to hear from this composer. Maybe a bit too much music compared to the "chat" content... but grateful for small mercies !

A nice reminder of how talented David Shire is with this hour of interview/score tracks. Interesting that he had the opportunity to score Rocky, but chose to do The Big Bus instead. But he did say yes to Saturday Night Fever. I've always liked Salsation and Night on Disco Mountain from SNF. Makes you wonder how his Rocky would've worked. And god knows he can handle the delicate moments.
