By the way, does anyone know if the documentary Lo sguardo della musica is now ready? Wasn't it originally supposed to coincide with Morricone's birthday?
Yes, I also wonder about the documentary. According to IMDb it is completed but the information has been very limited. That is also the fact with Tornatore´s other film projects such as Geek and I Beati Paoli. Tornatore seems to be a very busy man.
Mathias, since Tornatore's indeed so busy, I didn't expect him to write a book together with Morricone. Both friends must have hold it as a perfect way to celebrate the Maestro's 90th birthday. I really wonder if other events have been planned. Any new CD, any compilation? For the 80th birrthday, Claudio Fuiano released the 15CD box The complete edition for GDM.

Tornatore did a VERY long interview with Morricone for the documentary. I presume this interview or parts of it are the main contents in the book.
The Untouchables The Mission Cinema Paradiso The Spaghetti Westerns
Perfection. Could not have been improved upon by a single note.
For years I was afraid he was going to never be honored by the Academy. Unfathomable. Now he has a pair of Oscars: for lifetime achievement and "The Hateful Eight." Both richly deserved.
Thank you very much James! I have missed your Morricone reviews. I have this score only on CDR so a reissue would be very welcome. It is always a pleasure to read your reviews.

And he's still at it.

Morricone's effort for H8 was a let-down compared to his other "musical westerns", not his fault doe the movie was a mess. Still overall well justified for all the years of hard-work glad EM finally got an Oscar.
