I watched the new 4k UHD blu-ray of "2001: A Space Odyssey" on my home system yesterday. The first few minutes of the film, following the entr’acte music, left me stunned. The disc is utterly gorgeous. The stars have never been clearer or whiter, the details have never been more detailed, the color of the chairs in the space station never more intensely unique, the reds have never been redder, the Dawn of Man never more bleakly beautiful. The stargate section seemed brand new – a dazzlement.

Without question this is my favorite 4kUHD release. It transported me back to when I was a kid, seeing the film at the Denver Cooper Cinerama for my 15th birthday.

No teal/cyan agenda that I could see – just stunning audio, images, and an infinity of colors.

Good to hear! Though I won't be switching to 4K anytime soon... if ever.

apparently the Nolan work was dumped since it outraged so many, they went with the recommendations of Leon Vitali, thank goodness

Glad to read that. I found it at Best Buy the other day and was on the fence about ordering it.
