Anything Ennio is welcome. Although $34 is a bit steep, i will probably get this
This latest may be more open, more interesting and less complex than his published work so far with Miceli. But pardon me for being sceptical, its yet another collaboration with a musical intellectual. The best biographies are done where the writer has carte blanche to use the frank material as he/she sees fit, warts n all.

I wanna know the colour details about the real morricone - i wanna know whats in his fridge! big grin

Grazi.

Im sorry Maurizio, you mean grazie.

Grazi is not an italian word, Maurizio. Grazi is the shortened term for a grammar nazi. Being a published writer, im sure you knew that.

Interesting. I'll read it.

Oh, how I wish for a book like this to exist on Williams.

Ennio has always been critical of composers who rely on the tried and true styles of Hollywood.
At least he puts his music where his mouth is!

Just started on this.
I jumped to the DOLLARS section naturally- and was thrilled to learn many NEW things about these classics!

One example: the chorus sings " wind and fire" over the FISTFUL title song.
All these years I thought it " we can fight"

Amazing!

So far it is a nice.mix of personal history and theory.
Example: Ennio hired Nicolai to conduct during the FAF sessions so he could be in the control room with the controlling Leone.

Very enlightening discussion of Tarantino and H8.

Check it out!

This is old news bruce - hence reason nicolai conducted for ten years, dont care what credits say. That was the practice. Ennio preferred to be in the control room listening and checking, not just for leone. Once asked Gianna about who conducted certain films - she said "Why do you ask this? Bruno always conducted."

I've just finished reading this (unmissable for "Morriconians") book. It is fascinating in so many ways.

I jumped straight to the Nicolai section and was pleased to read that there was no falling out. That there was a perfectly logical reason why they decided mutually to go their separate ways.

I know EM wanted.to be in the control booth for GBU.
But, I didn't know Sergio requested he be in the booth so he, Sergio, could make ' suggestions' .

Name dropper. wink
So I guess YOU don't need to get this book - it's all " old news" to you
