If you count actual plays and enduring attachments to scores, my number one is James Horner.

I can't decide between Conti or Williams for my favorite composer. I have all of their cds and love them both. Then do what I do. Accept that you have two favorite composers, and they're just gonna have to live with each other sharing your admiration of them. (Alternatively, ask yourself if you were on a desert island and could only have CDs from Williams or Conti, not both...who would you pick? I bet you could pick one. Ya know....if you MUST choose. I still think option 1 is best.)

Yes if you cant choose for your desert island - imagine a mafia contract killer putting a gun to your head and making you choose? I bet you could then henry!

Angst over how you rank composers is an indication of fandomnal nerdicitis. Prescription: take two placebos, go to the seaside and play beach volleyball with some ladies who look like the Baywatch ladies we watched in the 80s. Then you'll realise it really doesn't matter.

But in real life are 80s Baywatch babes more attracted to John Williams fans or Bill Conti fans? That might be the fastest way to answer the question.

I’ll decide for you: Williams.

I can't decide between Conti or Williams for my favorite composer. Just accept that it’s Jerry Goldsmith and move on. No but thanks anyway

It's NOT annoying. We ALL come back to our favorite subjects, and there's always more conversation to be had. Did I love Titanic once and forget about it? No. Am I done talking about Star Trek music? You wish! Henry is right to point out the enormous danger potential in any conflict between Conti music and Williams music. But I must point out that the possibility, the potential, for knowledge and advancement is equally great!

RISK, gentlemen. RISK IS OUR BUSINESS. (Sorry, couldn't help myself. But you all already know there's something wrong with me.) BTW, when I think "Henry," I usually think "that Conti fanatic." For what it's worth.
