JOHN CLARK (Clancy...) - Michael B. Jordan is a good actor, but I wish they would simply cast people as characters LIKE John Clark, instead of trying to make people swallow dramatically differing looks to a character. To my mind, Willem Dafoe wasn't John Clark, though he was a great grizzled military professional, rather it was Liev Schreiber who stands out as *the* John Clark, "I was really enjoying being behind a desk," to paraphrase the tired pro. Wished they would have arrived at more films for that scenario. Seemed a natural. When you create an iconic/successful role, such character becomes indelible upon the public psyches. Every time you change that you damage that achievement. Again, absolutely cast Mr. Jordan as a skilled current or former field operator in intelligence. Just don't be so keen on changing established characters (!). P.S.: The same argument could be made against Denzel Washington's take on The Equalizer, a film I found myself liking immensely. The same movie could have been made without making Mr. Washington's character "McCall", who was already established.

WARLOK: Agreed---Liev Schreiber as John Clark was the best part of THE SUM OF ALL FEARS. Yup, i thought so too.
