Is there anything on here that hasn't appeared on one of the earlier anniversary collections?

Oh, two new tracks.

What a joke.

I always like these, but to not include tracks not on the previous anniversary editions, is sort of a joke.
I own every CD represented here, so I can make my own.

I don’t think these usually contain unreleased cues. They’re more meant as compilation samplers.

Past releases had tracks from the most recent VS releases only!

I just want to throw out there that the original three compilations they did in the 90's - Highway To Hollywood, Hollywood Soundstage and Hollywood, Hey Hey Lookit Meeee, Hollywood - were an absolute gateway for so many different scores and composers for me, so it's cool that they've sort of continued those, albeit in a non-annual, shittier fashion.

Loved every previous anniversary collection, so am I expected to buy this ?
These tracks have all been on previous compilations.

As mentioned above the previous releases have all featured tracks from soundtracks released in the previous 5 years since the last compilation - why the change? Or at least include tracks not previously on an anniversary set.

Disappointed.

Yeah, it's in the press release that if you own the previous editions, you have to buy this one, too. They can't do that, can they?? Sad!

Yes, I know these are usually samplers, but if you are going to release a track from My Left Foot, release a different track from My Left Foot that was not on a previous anniversary set, not the same one. Sorry, if you thought I was asking for unreleased tracks.

I'm planning to go to Varese's 40th Anniversary concert in Glasgow in November which features Patrick Doyle, Rachel Portman and David Arnold.

What I find very bizarre is that of these three composers only Doyle is represented on this double CD. Why invite Portman and Arnold if none of their tracks is on the CD?!

I was hoping that they would sell the CD on the night with an opportunity to get them signed by the three composers. But having Portman and Arnold's signature on a compilation CD that doesn't feature them doesn't feel right...

Has the 45 track 2CD set track list actually been posted anywhere yet? All I see here is the vinyl programme.

So do you think that the execs decide on these things not aiming at collectors to buy it (who may already have previous ones) but in putting it out there to persuade new and casual customers?

I dont know, but it seems like arse-about-face walking-dead-producer logic to me.

Nice set for "starters".
Personnally ,I don't like those compilations, when theres nothing really special or unreleased on it
.I guess its nothing for us here on the forum but for the ones who are only listening to soundtracks on a radio kind of basic or " loved the movie and that music that came to it was really nice"
So...good for them..and a nice overall variety.
But nothing we need really...

I love the idea of these collections, especially the ones from the 90s I already talked about, but the tracks chosen for the LP set do seem to be a big whiff. It would have been cool to have fans decide what went on the sets this time, kind of as a thank you for your business/apology for all the fuck ups and takeovers since the maroon spines went away. Set it up like a poll or something, where you could only choose from a pre-set list of scores they had control over. Would be a fun image rehabilitation, at the very least! Heck, the spine could be maroon again! But I'm sure there's a reason why things like My Left Foot seem to always be included on these things - perhaps the making of the album and working with Bernstein was important to Townson.
