No doubt of great interest to all on this thread, today (Nov 6) is the birth date of the inventor of said instrument..

I checked this wasn't on here yet, so forgive me if I'm not observant, but Gerry Rafferty's Baker Street surely should be listed:

One of the greatest sax riffs ever.

Oops. So it is.

Whilst sitting red faced in the corner I'll add that it was on the radio (BBC Radio 2) today whilst I was at work, and I enjoyed what is also a great guitar solo at the end... Saw Rafferty live in the eighties. Think it was my first gig (and I haven't been to that many) and it spoiled me for the 'live experience' because the guy and his band were note perfect.

There was a lot of UB40 tracks that had dominant sax sequences. My fave among many was Sing our own song

Not a fan of Tina Turner, admittedly a couple of her # were cool.

I remember "Simply the Best" well coz boxer Chris Eubank Sr. used it for his ring entrance - I watched most of his fights its an iconic song no doubt.

Lethal Weapon = sax, Murtaugh riff gawking the Hunsaker vid, have to say without a shadow the most intimate riffs I've heard, others are cool in LW but that one takes every-think.

Seeing as you like UB40, I don't feel so bad about you slagging off The Buggles.

Take it from an old tenor saxer in the H.S. days--Classic 4's "Stormy" and Mike & Mechanic's "Taken In" coming to mind at the moment...no to mention Mr. Hailey's & Co. little number at the beginning of Blackboard Jungle...
