Yesterday afternoon I attended a memorial for the legendary guitarist Bob Bain, who passed away on June 21, 2018, at the Sportsman's Lodge in Studio City, CA. A large crowd of musicians and friends shared stories about Bob.
Next to the podium, perched on a guitar stand was his "Peter Gunn" guitar.
Music was provided by some of the best players in LA.
"Dreamsville" was performed by Chuck Berghofer, Chuck Findley, Dan Higgins, Gene Cipriano, Jim Fox, John Paisano, Pete Christlieb and Tom Ranier.
"Moon River" was performed by Sue Raney with guitarist Jim Fox much like the fire escape scene in "Tiffany's".
"Unforgettable" was performed by Chuck Berghofer, Jim Fox, Pete Christlieb, Tim May and Tom Ranier.
Bob played on the original Nat "King" Cole recording.
It was a fitting tribute to a great musician and a wonderful and kind man known as The Gentle Giant.
