The difference is that it's okay to crap on some piece of merchandise or product--it's not okay to crap on someone's opinion of that product just because it differs from yours.
Opinions are not bulletproof to criticism. Lots and lots and lots of people have very dumb opinions - some of them are even on this board! In this thread!
It should also be said that a number of posts in this thread come off as *very* specious and knee-jerk sexist. And maybe its my *opinion* that sexism is terrible, but I'm pretty sure anyone who'd argue against that lost the conversation before they even replied.

I'm not disagreeing with any point you just made. I am saying, however, that there are rules on this board that lay out the manner in which one responds to a prior comment about some"thing". Once the bridge has been crossed and a conversation has descended into the rabbit hole of ad hominem personal attacks--instead of staying focused on the "art work" in question--then it's obvious that whoever threw the first personal shot has already lost, but they just don't know it.
I don't recall Justin insulting anyone here who thought the gay Batwoman was a good idea. What does that tell you?
(I have just realized that I, myself, should be locked up for my insane misuse of mixed metaphors! )
I think Batwoman is a good character and I'm glad they're doing a TV show. If it's anything like what I've seen from Arrow (the first two seasons) which shares some creative team, it'll be pretty good.
I won't watch it for the same reason that I don't watch any of the DC or Marvel superhero shows. Who has the time!

That the crux of his argument is about sexual identity.
So, to belabor the point, but if you're going to throw stones, ad homiem anything means objectively, universally nothing compared to obvious and face-foward bigotry.

I'm baffled as to how you have so completely missed my point (and Justin's, but that's another can o'worms). To each his own, and I won't belabour my own point further. Just another of life's sweet mysteries.
