Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W9uddyaqAPE

DUNE---Timothee Chalamet is in negotiations for the lead role of Paul Atreides in the Denis Villeneuve remake movie.

THE WALKING DEAD---Lauren Ridloff will play Connie, who uses sign language to communicate, in Season 9.

BATWOMAN---synopsis released for the new CW pilot featuring a lesbian Batwoman. Caroline Dries (SMALLVILLE) is the writer. Greg Berlanti is the executive producer.

"In the series, Kate Kane, armed with a passion for social justice and a flair for speaking her mind, soars onto the streets of Gotham as Batwoman, an out lesbian and highly trained street fighter primed to snuff out the failing city’s criminal resurgence. But don’t call her a hero yet. In a city desperate for a savior, Kate must overcome her own demons before embracing the call to be Gotham’s symbol of hope."

THE VAMPIRE CHRONICLES---Hulu won the rights to the Anne Rice tv series based on her novels.

BIRDS OF PREY---the Margot Robbie/DC Comics movie will feature Harley Quinn, Black Canary, Huntress, Cassandra Cain and Renee Montoya.

BILL & TED'S EXCELLENT ADVENTURE---Keanu Reeves is not optimistic about another movie in the series, "I don't know if it's a reality. We've been trying for a long time to get that film made, and it still has its challenges. I really love the characters, and I think we have a good story to tell. Part of it is show business stuff - financing, rights, deals. Nothing creatively."

RANSOM---CBS renewed the series for Season 2.

What fucking garbage.

To think, it actually paints that awful Batgirl from the 1966 West series in a better light! And it makes me yearn for that third awful season of the show!

Damn, Horner was practically a college kid in Khan. Can't believe it's been three years. frown

And it's nice that Chris Sanders is moving into live-action. Here's hoping he retains Silvestri. Sounds like it'd be right up his alley.

Yep.
Who do they think is going to watch this? Gay women and militant feminists?
Well, I suppose they would if Batwoman was shown to be exclusively beating the crap out of misogynists each week.
Hmm, I might watch it myself if the fights take place in Jello. big grin

It’s an accurate portrayal of the comics character Batwoman (not Batgirl) as presented for over a decade at this point. I don’t keep up with DC anymore, but her first few arcs in Detective Comics were some of the best DC runs of their era. Check out the TPB for Batwoman Elegy.

Seriously?
I had no idea that such a comic even existed.
My interest in comics waned towards the late 70's and I wasn't a DC guy to begin with.
So I stand corrected.
I can't blame DC for wanting to look at their properties and maybe make some of that Marvel-level cash.
But I also think Justin's reaction is justified, because the timing of this seems a little exploitative, given the current climate of gender politics--if that is, in fact what he meant (I know that it is what I meant).

I never heard of Batwomen so can't comment. Though I've seen Batgirl in a porn video and she is most certainly Bi-Sexual.

Dune reboot, what a terrible, terrible, terrible idea

What I don't understand is not just this reboot, but Villeneuve's cv an habit just rehashing another classic, 2049 may have made money but the reception was very mixed a lot of people preferred the original.

I agree, he is capable or better, original work. And 2049 did not make a nickle by the way, $150 million production cost, it need something above $300 million to make it to black once the cost of advertising and the split with the exhibitors and distribution is taken out. 2049 was a substantial money loss.

I'm still generally a fan of giving Dune another shot at cinema that is interesting.

And they are false narratives.

One: It doesn't matter what user said what, or what person online said what, or what producer, director, etc. This is about the bullshit certain people inside Hollywood are pushing.

Two: Current Batgirl/woman, whatever, is a lesbian. A push.

Three: Just because one thing has been a certain way recently, does not mean another iteration has to be that way.

I don't love everything.

But I also don't come on here and trash pretty much everything like some posters do here, either.

This thread is informative as all get out! Apparently, it's "bullshit" to depict non-heteronormative characters and it's okay to change characters on a fundamental level because their having been depicted as gay for over a decade is just a symptom of a current trend.

I thought the description was cheesy as hell, but if it keeps helping people out themselves as extremely closed-minded and intolerant, I'm all for it.

The difference is that it's okay to crap on some piece of merchandise or product--it's not okay to crap on someone's opinion of that product just because it differs from yours.
How do you not get that?

(Well, whatever. I'm certainly not the board cop.)

Art criticism.
It's a difficult concept.

I don't like changing an established characters identity for the sake of current social pressures. Which apparently isn't the case with Batwomen. The sexuality should be a non issue. But that also means not making an issue of their sexuality.
