Good theme by the duo definitely a better sound than some previous ones, I remember the J-M-Jarre theme 98, why France accepted that its hard to believe, listening too it was awful a repetitive synth that went on an on... even the remix version..
Jarre is one of my alltime favourite artists, but I agree that the "Rendez-Vous IV" remix with Apollo 440 for the '98 World Cup was a low in his career. Dated and cheesy, but then again so was the "Rendez-Vouz IV" track to begin with, even in its original version. Wish he had done something new instead.
Yeah.. Couldn't believe that was Jarre when I first heard it, obviously France hosting the world cup the nostalgia they didn't care, a long way off from Equinoxe, Oxygene themes, love the Revolutions, Zoolook albums, although today I've lost touch with Jean's work.

You have no idea as a teenager in 78 who bought the ennio single 3 weeks before the world cup started how gutted i was to discover it was argentina 78 ...for italian tv, not english tv and we had right old tosh in its place!! 
The bbc one was more like a carousel for horses on poles and the itv one was an embarrassingly bad fit even in 1978!!
