Big break for her. Can’t wait to hear it.

Get a female director! Get a female composer! Get a female Best Boy...!

I'm sure this is a big break for her and I'm excited to hear what she comes up with!

I’m all for more diverse voices in the film music community and always excited when a new talent gets a big break.

Interested to see what she does — especially now that Marvel is really taking some chances with their films.

I too am hoping she brings a fresh voice to the superhero genre!

That is truly remarkable news, given Toprak's relatively low profile. (Goransson at least had two previous Ryan Coogler films, including the very successful Creed). Congratulations to Ms. Toprak, and I'm always eager to hear what new musical voices bring to the cinema, especially in the sci-fi/fantasy/adventure genre.

Jesus it took like, what, less than half a dozen posts for all the sexism and misogyny to come out? This place can be a fucking cesspool sometimes.

Here's hoping she doesn't get Balfed like she was on Geostorm.

Congratulations to Ms. Toprak, but I must admit if I was making the choice here, I'd have selected Debbie Wiseman.

Thank you, Jon. Certain "isms" are alive and well here.

I've seen topics about Pinar Toprak, but I've not heard her music. Hope she composes a solid score. It is fun to discover new composers.

(Bruce, did you report your own, "Anybody know her bust size" comment also to the Diversity Task Force? Hope so.)

Bruce Marshall: I have deleted your asinine posts from this thread.

If you would like, you are welcome to take a time out from this board. I promise I would not miss you.

Her Kraft-Engel page is a launching pad.

This is really exciting news!

Although, based on that photo, should I be worried that she's associated with Hans Zimmer? Fresh new voice = wonderful. Another Zimmer monkey = not so wonderful.

She's not a "Zimmer Monkey" in any way - Hans gave her her first job working as an assistant at Remote years ago, but she left before she wrote anything of note. They are friends because Zimmer helped her when she was a young composer.

Listen to THE WIND GODS and TIDES OF FATE for a good example of her action style (and THE LIGHTKEEPER for her smaller, more intimate comedy/drama style). She is going to knock this out of the park.

Wow!
That's quite a career break.
I really like what I've heard of PT's music so far, so I hope this score is as impressive as the last newbie Marvel score (Ludwig G on Black Panther).
GO PINAR!!

actually TIDES OF FATE sounds very Remote/Zimmer clone, but good luck to her.

It was an easy pun on her last name. Delete it if you wish, but I thought it was funny. A joke on her last name inherently has nothing to do with sexism.

General rule of thumb — if you wouldn’t say it in real life around strangers, don’t say it online.

It’s a cheap and embarrassing sexist comment.

Here's hoping she doesn't get Balfed like she was on Geostorm.

Wasn't she Ruperted on Wonder Woman as well?

She should be a prime candidate to score Wonder Woman 2 and yet Jenkin's, who talks a good game on increasing female representation in the film industry, is sticking with RGW.

I've never listened to a Toprak so I'm not sure what to expect, however fans of hers should temper their hopes. Lots of talk about how great Doyle's score to Thor was going to be where news broke that he was hired for the project and yet we ended up with music that was heavily influenced by the MV/RC sound.

Her most famous stuff at the moment is probably the music she provided for that game all the kids are playing (and getting addicted to), FORTNITE.

Congratulations to Ms. Toprak, but I must admit if I was making the choice here, I'd have selected Debbie Wiseman.

I’d have suggested Anne Dudley but hey I also thought she would have done an amazing job on Wonder Woman too.

On one hand, I’m happy that this film based on a female protagonist is being scored by a woman. Great move. On the other, and this is just personal taste, I’ve not heard anything by Ms Toprak that I really like but maybe this will be the score that changes that. smile
