THURSDAY, JUNE 14

DOCTOR SLEEP---Ewan McGregor will star in the Warner Bros. movie based on Stephen King's sequel novel to THE SHINING. McGregor will play the adult Danny Torrance and received King's approval.

AQUAMAN---Jason Momoa, Nicole Kidman and Amber Heard are featured on the cover of ENTERTAINMENT WEEK magazine.

MAN ALIVE---20th Century Fox sci fi movie underway in which the sole survivor of an alien invasion is horrified to discover he may not be alone after all. Hiro Murai (ATLANTA) is in talks to direct the movie.

THE EXPANSE---Amazon Studios CEO Jennnifer Salke explained why Amazon picked up the cancelled Syfy series, "Jeff Bezos was getting emails from everyone from George R.R. Martin to every captain of industry, like the founder of Craigslist, and they were all writing, saying, there’s this show, it’s so great, you have to see it, you have to buy it or save it.”

PARKS AND RECREATION---Chris Pratt commented on if he would return for a rumored revival of the sitcom, "As long as I'm in town, yah, I'll do it. It films like 10 minutes from my house so that would be dope. I miss Andy too. I would love it. I know I would do it."

ARE YOU SLEEPING---Aaron Paul will play convicted murderer Warren Cave in the Apple tv series based on the novel that also stars Octavia Spencer and Lizzy Caplan.

CATS---Anne Hathaway is in talks to star in the Universal Pictures movie based on the Broadway play. Rihanna is also a candidate to be a co-star.

TRIVIA---In ZULU, Michael Caine unsuccessfully auditioned for the prime role of Private Henry Hook, but James Booth got the part. The movie's developers predicted the Hook role would make Booth a major star. Instead, Caine got the lesser role of Lieutenant Gonville Bromhead and learned that Paramount Pictures told the director that Caine's acting was so bad, he should be fired immediately.
ZULU became a huge hit and launched Caine's Oscar-winning career, but Booth never achieved major stardom.
In the movie, Hook is portrayed as a drunkard, petty thief and trouble-maker, but in reality he was a model soldier. During the movie's premiere, Hook's daughter walked out to protest the inaccurate portrayal of her father.

I think Hook was the best part in Zulu, & Booth was very good, but he didn't have that film star charisma that Caine has. The foppish officer wasn't a great part, but Caine just needed a leading roll, & he was off & running.

Wow, orange and teal color palette. What an unexpected development.

I usually like Nicole Kidman but I had to have a good laugh at that. I don't know why, but it doesn't seem to be her type of film. (Ditto The Golden Compass)

Sadly color scheme is a given. I just hope he has a personality other than constipated like in Justice League.

I think the best I can say about that cover is it would make mediocre toilet paper.
