The Terminator is possibly his best writing and is a terrific mix of good pacing, acting and just the right amount of humor. Aliens and T2 are two of the best sequels ever made.
T2 was too bloated for me. I'd have to go with Aliens, the theatrical cut, for being a blistering thrill ride with heart and great characters. And great hopping snot, what a fabulous score by James Horner.
At the very least, this was the movie I last saw with a packed house, no annoyances from the audience because they were fully on board and where the time just sort of flew by.
I love all his films, but I think his best is ALIENS. What about you guys?
I agree with you. ALIENS is heads and shoulders above anyone else, but I pretty much love all his films to one extent or another. Close second is THE ABYSS, followed by TERMINATOR 2, TITANIC and AVATAR.
Probably Terminator 2, I would say Abyss, but the last 15 minutes of that film just really blows it.It is quite a shame that he cannot tear himself away from the Avatar franchise that will apparently imprison him till his last working days.
Terminator 2 broke grounds in visual effects. The practical effects were amazing too. And you got a lean and mean Linda Hamilton. Whats not to love?! Okay that little kid was annoying as hell, but besides that.
Yup, Aliens. The Abyss was on TV in HD & I recorded it, but I lost patience & ended up zooming through it. True Lies is fun, but a bit dated now. Terminator 2, well they spend the whole film shooting at the baddie even though bullets can't hurt him, & it gets tedious, & the kid is really unlikeable.
