I'm curious about this version that I believe the same Dan Beck posted a video of on youtube. It has a few unique scenes not in the USA TV version - and also has the full score during the underwater attack on the helicopter that is audibly cut along with a few extra scenes of the pilot struggling.

I'd love to talk more about this version. Dan Beck, are you around? It would be great to try to transfer the tape in higher quality. I know there may be issues with digitizing the PAL-M format, but that can be worked out. smile

I always thought the cue in the extended helicopter attack scene was just looped? I do like that scene though.

Kind of sub-topic, but I sure would love for OMNI Publishing (Silverado, Total Recall, etc.) to release this amazing score as one of their full orchestral manuscript releases. I really think this is one of Williams' great orchestral scores.

Funnily enough I was just reading the original thread about this yesterday:

And this is the video danbeck linked to:

The scenes were always shown in the tv version that aired in the 80s and early 90s in Brazilian television.

It was also the version released in VHS by CIC Video for rental, and, although almost all movies released in VHS at the time had original English audio and Brazilian Portuguese subtitles, Jaws 2 was dubbed in Portuguese.

In fact it has no extra music, but tracked music in two additional scenes. The scene for the divers finding the camera uses a a section of the Main Title and the Hellicopter scene used Attack on the Water Skier.

On the quality of the footage, unfortunately I don’t know how to transfer VHS to digital, I simply filmed the TV with a digital camera. I don’t even know if my VHS player still works...

If you're interested, I can help transfer it for you. I've done this before with another youtuber who had a rare recording of a 1980 broadcast of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow starring Jeff Goldblum - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QfmxAmJID3U

If you'd like to discuss this further, you can reach me at RidgeShark at hotmail.com

I was able to get a rough digital copy of the Brazilian TV cut from a marketplace seller in Brazil. His copy is from an old television recording, rather than the CIC release. Here I've tried patching it up with the Blu-ray and the widescreen version of the deleted scene.

I'm really interested in making an extended fanedit of the film since I have my own personal recording of the US TV cut from the early 90's. There would have to be shifting aspect ratios as you see here, but I think that's preferable to cropping any of the footage. I would be very grateful if you would like to collaborate on the endeavor. Your official VHS release probably has the best quality for all the deleted scenes that weren't included on the DVD and blu-ray.

Here's a unique deleted scene found on the tv version from Brazil. Seems the music is mostly, if not all, taken from the opening theme. This is from the previously mentioned low quality mp4 of an over-the-air recording.

EDIT - I got mixed up on languages and regional VHS releases. I removed it to avoid further confusion.

You can follow the developments of my attempt to combine all the deleted material of the film here:

Wish me luck! wink

eek You're absolutely right. The correct release would be titled Tubarão, not Tiburon. Sincerely, thank you so much for the correction.

The Brazilian version is titled “Tubarão 2” and has a dark blue cover around the shark/skier art instead of white.
