I finally got around to watching this film this past weekend. I've had the Blu-ray for a couple of years! Absolutely gorgeous film, and truly emotional and touching score by Bruno Coulais.

Seems like the CD is already OOP, and not too easy to find. Another one to add to the want list. It's available digitally, and on Spotify.

Anyone else had a chance to experience this score watching the film or first hand?

I agree with your assessment of the film and it's score. I actually found both DVD and CD in a discount store ("Giant Tiger" in Ottawa, Canada), but that was a year or so ago. I think I paid $5 for each.

I also liked THE SECRET OF KELLS by Coulais and done by the same animation company.
I was looking forward to THE BREADWINNER with a score by Jeff Danna, and the film is fine. A little different from the gentle mythological bent of the first two titles. But the score by Danna , who I usually like, was just source music. I think I noticed one scene where tension was created by what we would normally call "dramatic score".

Great find Paul - do you recall which GT Boutique in Ottawa? I'll be sure to check Hintonburg ASAP, and maybe the big one on Walkley this weekend.

I remember they had some soundtracks ages ago - tons of copies of How to Eat Fried Worms, and A Mighty Heart.

Hello Ryan,

It was the one in Aylmer, Quebec actually. (Which is just across the river. Take the Champlain Bridge over Island Park, turn left, its two minutes down the road on Rue Principale. On the left.) But that was a year ago. Maybe two years ago. !! I doubt you would find it now. But maybe.

Thanks for the details Paul - If I manage to find one I'll report back, but not gonna get my hopes up. big grin
