Why do you think he' "my President"? I was talking about how the reaction would have been different had another comedian said the same things about other administrations.
Mr. Marshall, Solium, I hope you guys haven't taken anything personally, that was not my intent. You guys are great, and I find myself in agreement with you much more often than disagreement! I hope you consider me as a friend as I do you! Can we disagree without being disagreeable? I apologize if I have offended either of you or anyone else for that matter, I didn't intend any offense.
When I was much younger Jerry Goldsmith made some comments about John Williams that I didn't like at the time. I won't try to quote because I can't recall exactly what he said, but one was to the effect that while Williams deserved the Oscar for "Jaws", he (Goldsmith) deserved it for some other years when they were both nominated. I think he also said something about how Williams had learned from him and from other composers and had developed his own style quite well. At the time I didn't like Goldsmith's words, but upon reflecting, I'm sure most composers learn from each other.
