I do love the score to this film and the expanded Intrada edition offers up some fantastic, additional music. I did enjoy the old LP arrangement growing up, but really love the fuller programme too. I've always thought the film was pretty terrible though, mainly let down by hammy acting and stodgy direction. It looked really dated even when it was first released!! It's got some decent moments of tension and menace, but it's undone by the dodgy script and acting, and the end sequence borders on farce! But as was usual around this time, Goldsmith's music elevates things to such a level it does seem to be a much better film than it is (to me anyway). It all goes downhill once that strange, naZty b@stard kills Linda Hayden. She was my favourite thing about it (especially my aged 15 self...you can't beat* a naked sexy trollope in bed at that age) aside from JG

Expressed the exact same thing to a fellow FSMer during one of the Detroit concerts back in Y2K. Can't remember which number he was conducting at the time but the moment remains indelible.
I think it's high time that Chris Malone got a crack at working on a new transfer of the OST tapes, notwithstanding the general excellence of the Intrada release.
