That this Concert along with all the other Filmharmonic Concerts were not recorded for release to the public on LP// CD or whatever was a disgrace I attended the 1970 Filmharmonic concert. There was an LP: https://www.discogs.com/The-Royal-Philharmonic-Orchestra-Filmharmonic-70-Highlights-From-A-Festival-Of-Film-Music/release/5869553 My mistake you are correct and I even have this LP myself somewhere in my collection which I forgot about but so many were not recorded and this was a shame and incidentally I have a CD of the Francis Lai Filmharmonic Concert with his entire concert repertoire and introduction by Julie Andrews but I understand this CD was only released in Japan but it is a wonderful listen .

The album 'The Concert John Barry' is a studio recording of part of Barry's 1972 concert programme.

The Concert John Barry is a wonderful album, but the 72 concert offered orchestral versions of The Persuaders and several other JB tunes not otherwise heard in these arrangements. I think The Chase and The Knack were on the program. I know that The Lion in Winter was. On Barry's many collections that he recorded--Columbia, Polydor, and Sony, he never recorded his music from The Lion in Winter. I'm not counting his two jazzy versions with Alan Haven, witty and enjoyable as they are. What did this sound like in concert? I don't believe there was a chorus, so he would have re-worked the music strictly for symphony orchestra. Well, I'd love to hear that.

According to a few people who attended the concert, The Lion in Winter, though scheduled, was not performed. This seems to be confirmed by the tape box listing, which also indicates one of the items on the Rozsa list was not performed. I'm honestly not sure about the Lion In Winter on the night though there was certainly no choir. However, I'm pretty certain he dropped either 'The Adventurer' or 'The Persuaders'

Thanks for clearing that up. It's also curious that The Big Country appeared on the program. He must have really liked that theme, but being the sole piece from the concert not written by Barry, excluding part of the Bond suite, it really stands out.

I believe it was custom and practice at the Filmharmonic concerts for each composer to conduct at least one piece that wasn't their own composition
