For me both albums are terrific - same basic material, same general feel, but two different experiences. They complement each other wonderfully. More than once I've followed the film recording with the album re-record - works great!

I think it is cute that Intrada tried assembling the Breakout cue from the original tracks, and the second edit in the new edition works a bit better, but the re-record is the one to listen to.

Just spun the LP. Love it. "Kay's Theme" is great 70s sleazy listening.

Part of my bargain-basement late-70s Goldsmith trilogy, along with The Swarm and Outland.

I rewatched this film just the other day and I wish I hadn't as it doesn't hold up well.

Goldsmith's music for the most part though does and is splendid. Take out all the 70s disco/elevator music (eek!) trappings and it sounds as relevant and ageless today as ever.

... Take out all the 70s disco/elevator music (eek!) trappings...

Those are my favorite parts.
