The Perseverance version is not worth $2.

Do I hear three dollars?

Just to clear up a few issues

a.) NOTEFORNOTE only had access to the film tracks and mixes.

b.) the tracks on the official soundtrack album are owned by MCA RECORDS and it would taken perhaps as much as a year to clear for this release.

c.) We decided to recreate those suites using the film mixes, which fell to James Nelson our mastering wizard to retro-engineer the whole thing and recreate those suite as closely as possible and I think he did a fine job.

d.) The tracks on the album were presented the way that Hans Zimmer recorded and produced them for the film and were delivered to the producers of the film. We would 't about to reedit his tracks to how they ended up in the film.

e.) The final album speaks for itself and IMHO (as the producer) I think it turned out pretty good.

Gave it several listens this past weekend. Sounds great, and don't mind the album track recreations at all.

It's the first RAIN MAN album I own, and it turned out very well. I always loved the music, it was a completely different sound back then (it was pretty much Hans Zimmer's first Hollywood mainstream movie score), but the previous soundtrack releases left a lot to be desired. The Notefornote album rectified all that.

I found this through a third party at a reasonable price of 25 dollars and ordered it. Can't wait to give it a spin! Hans Zimmer's earlier stuff from the late 80s to mid 90s is by far my favorite.

This still gets a lot of spins. One of my favorite Zimmer releases... I have this paired up in a playlist with Green Card. Perfect match.
