So, back to LIS I read Judy, (now a black girl) is the daughter from another marriage? As we see the "robot" isn't from Earth or human origins. Doctor Smith is a female. I got a better look at the Jupiter 2, it's basically the Millennium Falcon without all the surface detail. (Or at least a distant cousin in design) I read there are multiple transport spaceships. (Jupiter 1, 2, 3, 4, 5?)

FAST & FURIOUS---Rob Cohen, who directed the original movie, wants to return for the last sequel, “when you go on the internet and [read] ‘Which was the best Fast & Furious?’ It’s almost always mine.”

Rob Cohen wishes he had the talent of Justin Lin.

You really think NFL ratings are down because some dude was kneeling during the national anthem? You know NASCAR ratings have been in a steady decline for over a decade? You can't get anymore, we love America, God, and Troops than that. The stuff you speak of have always been a part of the Oscars. Probably a huge part of the decline in ratings (across the board) are people dropping cable/TV like crazy.

No. I think ratings are down because audiences are tired of being flogged with politics no matter what those politics may be.

I dropped cable over six years ago. That's over $4,000 saved.

Which you apparently invested in MCU cra.....stuff.
smile
Btw is "virtue signaling " a real term?

ACADEMY AWARDS---the 90th Academy Awards drew a dismal all-time low of 26.5 million viewers. The 89th Academy Awards drew 32.9 million which was a nine-year low.

I suspect that much of the USA is weary of Hollywood's elitist virtue signalling and hypocrisy.

It's all a bit fishy.

The elitist virtue signalling is the least of it's problems. The awards are so random, uncontrolled, clueless, money influenced, over long, unfunny, and boring. In other words it's all BS. Most of all who cares if millionaires pat themselves on the back? I haven't watched the awards in 25.

Overall I'd say it's time for the Terminator franchise to be put to rest. However, I do consider myself a huge fan of the first two movies and I actually quite enjoyed Genisys (it's no masterpiece but I was thoroughly entertained). I may be the only one but I really found they were finally able to make a proper sequel to T2.

LOST IN SPACE---official trailer released for the Netflix remake of the 1960s sci fi series.

I liked it.
I don't know if that means anything, though, because I loved the movie, too.
I think it might be just because I love the concept to begin with.
That and the J2.

Well, for me that was pretty damn good. The music was not bad either.

I still have the complete collection (most in NM) of the Lost in Space comics. Excellent series when I was a kid. The painted covers by George Wilson are excellent.

The Oscars, Grammys, the NFL...ratings are all down significantly this year. Gee, I wonder why?

No, we've endured bloated productions, awkwardly scripted "banter", long, dull games, and crass commercialism from those entities before, but never has their virtue signalling been so blatantly sickening as it is now.

Judging the situation from across the pond, it seems to me that the 'virtue signalling' is a symptom of a problem in the business and of the wider 'culture wars' that seem to be happening in Canada and the US (and to some extent in Oz).

Looks like anther over-rot misfire. Nothing there says "See me!".

Lost in CGI.

The Jupiter 2 looks like a Millennium Falcon want-a-be.

As a science fiction/fantasy afficiando, I find the most glaring killer of the 'suspension of disbelief' when watching said genres is the lack of a believably rendered alien environment. Avatar was the most spectacular stab at creating such an environment on the big screen although I feel it shot itself in the foot with human motivations given to the indigenous aliens.

From what I could see in the LIS trailer was at least a CGI stab at creating an alien environment (excluding the ice fields). I hope the CGI landscape is dutifully realistically rendered. smile
