Just listened to the RAMPAGE score and, it's better than I excepted. Ok, it's generic but there's a lot of good ideas in it. For example the use of the choir (in "Cornfield" and "Saved") surprise me and a lot of action material is well made. I'm very surprised that Lockington make a better work for a "little" movie than Lorne Balfe for Pacific Rim Uprising (which is a very big franchise, compared to Rampage). The Balfe score was so awful and boring for me, but this one is quite good and I liked the listening. One time more, yes, I don't forgot that it's generic but a generic A+ score. Lockington was one of the candidates (with Michael Giacchino of course) I wanted to score the Gareth Edwards' Godzilla (I discovered his score for Percy Jackson just before and I really enjoyed it) and I'm very happy he had is chance to make a monster movie score. Maybe we could ask him for the 2019's Godzilla. Of course, when we see the Ifukube quote he made on Ready Player One, Silvestri could be the #1 choice but if he can't or don't want to do the score, I hope the producers ask Lockington before a random Zimmerish guy.

Man, is this score fully synthetic? How could this happen to a Rockbuster? Lockington has some talent but this is a Lorne Balfe score (ie. lazy as shit, maybe 2 string players if that). Seriously, the action music is ridiculously bad. If anyone can verify there was an orchestra beyond 5 players, let's hear it. I love Lockington's other scores but this is taking the piss. What is going on here.

Man, don't bring up Rosenman. He was never good at much of anything. Seriously useless composer. Am struggling with Shiro Sagisu, this is not your grandfather's Akira Ifukube.....

Despite this score's disposable lameness, I am deeply happy to currently live in a world where big-budget monster movies are popular again (Rampage, upcoming Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, The Meg, Kong: Skull Island, upcoming Godzilla, etc).
