anyone get a disc with a bump in the silver film, like a tiny dent from the top? I have a disc with a two tiny dents - seems to play fine and copy in a computer. No noticeable defect on the label side. Is it a defect that will get worse over time? It's a used oop cd, so I need to decide now whether to return it or not.

If they are bubbled up air pockets, that oxygen will probably destroy the disc one day, slowly eating away at the recording medium.

How would I know if that was the situation? I'm not sure I can get a picture of it. I took it to a CD store, but they werent any help.

I have seen this exact same thing on one disc, and it did mar the playback for me.

Was your copy brand new? This CD was released in 2012 and still seems to play fine. Since the silver side is in the plastic, maybe it wont degrade like a bug in amber. Then again, the label top might allow air to penetrate from that side. roll eyes

No, it was from a CD pressed in the 90s, I believe.

So your disc might have initially played okay and degraded over time, or might have played bad from the start? Should I return my cd?
