I had the privilege of attending a dinner with musical genius Alessandro Alessandroni prior to his gig at the ICA in London many years ago. The dinner was also attended by Sir Prof Christopher Frayling, Gianna Spagnulo (who sang on many Morricone scores), Laurence Staig (author of 'An Opera of Violence', a fantastic book on Spaghetti Westerns) and others. Sandro really is most courteous and friendly person you could ever wish to meet and he made time for everybody. But my personal highlight was when Gianna introduced herself to me, a mere mortal amongst greats and then added two 'xx' under her signature :-). On a side note, Jarvis Cocker was sitting at the table next to us but nobody cared about him :-).

I once got a delightful email reply from a 70s composer - and i was sitting in a hotel foyer at the time. Does that count? Actually probably not because i knew who he was and he knew i knew who he was - or he wouldnt have been replying to my email. Perhaps i better start another thread - composers who replied by email when you were in a hotel foyer? Email didnt exist in the seventies.

We went to an italian restaurant that completely f**ked up the orders and took ages to serve I've updated it: I went to a movie that JunkieXL completely f**ked up the score on and took ages to listen to.
