I've been watching the Winter Olympics, mostly due to it being on Tv at friends houses, and have noticed quite a bit of film music being ice danced to:

Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence
On Golden Pond
Eyes Wide Shut
The Mission
Star Wars (cantina band)
James Bond medley
Moulin Rouge

Canadians love ice dancing.

I find ice dance to be excruciatingly boring (although I do have an interest in the new I, TONYA film, but for other reasons).

But obviously, the winter Olympics are huge here in Norway, especially the ski events. Currently leading the medal statistics, although it's a close race with Germany.

The only drawbacks this year, in terms of watching, are that the events are held in Korea (and so most events are shown at night or early in the morning over here), and the rights have reverted to a commercial channel over here, rather than our public broadcaster, which means lots of commercials and bad commentators.

The only thing I ever bother with is the Curling, I've always enjoyed watching that. GB girls won against Canada earlier in a good match, which puts them through to the semi finals.

Why? Just some white trash loser who's 15 minutes of fame has long outlast any relevance. Now lets talk about the nip slip. The high light of the Olympics....

I watched that. Where I live is mad for curling so I've sort of gone off it over the years. Seen too much of it.

They repeated that wardrobe malfunction in slow mo on close up and it was hilarious listening to all the commentators bluster their way through it.

Winter Olympics is mostly for people who like snowboarding these days. I should be more impressed by the daredevil skills but I just can't muster up the energy to pretend I care about moguls and all that.

I don't agree about the commentators. I think they have been good.

I haven't seen a second of it, & it'll be the same for the main event in two years time smile

I've watched a LOT of the Olympics this year, and being drowned in Williams' Olympic themes thanks to NBC's coverage in the US got me wondering if the same is true of TV coverage in other countries. Are Williams' themes used? Something else? I'm assuming NBC retains exclusive rights to these pieces but I don't know. They're fine pieces but good LORD those opening bars of "Summon the Heroes" are haunting my dreams.

The Olympics is (are?) heating up now that the supposedly drug-free Russians are being found to be anything but. Given that they're competing under the Olympic flag, does that mean that the Olympics has (have?) to be disqualified from competing in future Olympics?

I haven't heard any Williams themes on the BBC or Eurosport coverage in the UK.
