I had the pleasure of knowing Marty Gold. Not only was he a great arranger and recording artist he was a producer always looking for new talent for RCA Records. He told me he wanted to sign Barbra Streisand to the label but his superiors didn't like her. He discovered pianist Peter Nero and arranged and conducted his early albums. He also was one hell of a nice guy.

Cool! When I started buying space-age bachelor pad records in the late 1980s/early 1990s, One of the first ones I got was "Skin Tight." That was my favorite of the Marty Gold LPs I found. A lot of his stuff at the time didn't really knock me over the head like some other artists, but I found over years of listening that there are a lot of subtly clever things going on. I would never pass up one of his records.

You might enjoy Esquivel's many Space Age Bachelor Pad recordings for RCA. Unusual arrangements and he was an excellent pianist. Fun listening.

Ironically both R.C.A. and Columbia are now part of Sony/B.M.G..
