Can't believe it .... spent last few years recording many times with Johann.... sadjust as he was receiving the critical acclaimed and popularity he so deserved !
...we had such a great working relationship over 15 years of sessions ... and I even think he enjoyed my sarcastic British humour, as he often gave me his very sardonic smile !
damn. i love the score in sicario, it stood out so well in the modern era, it was also the first time i'd noticed his name. for this to come so soon after, it's truly tragic.
This is a terrible loss. I loved his scores for Sicario, Theory of Everything, and Arrival, and I considered him one of the most promising artists to come on the scene in many years. He won’t be forgotten.
I only knew his name from Sicarrio, but it hit me strongly as he was the same age as I am. Way to soon to leave this earth. I don't say this often, but rest in peace and may his family stay strong through this tough time.
Surprised and shocked. Having heard only a handful of his output, the most lyrically amplified to me is Theory Of Everything. So terribly sorry to hear this.
So tragic. He was one of the composers I've liked the most in recent years and always checked out his scores. He was only getting better and getting more prestigious projects. Now we'll never get to hear all the great music he would've made in the future.
I didn't care for much of his music, but there's no denying he brought unique talent and a fresh musical vision to the world of film scoring. Damn, that sucks. Condolences to his family, friends, fans and professional collaborators.
Someone(s) please tell me his best scoring of a film IYHO. Not the soundtrack/CD, etc. on its own but for the film. Would like to take on a new "challenge."
