.....and you can kiss MY Ass!

Cracking up!!

You apparently have no clue about the history of film music.

Actually, I do. And I can bet I know one hell of a lot more about music than you do. I went to Berklee....where did you go for your music education?

None of the Jones scores stand up to the favorite works loved here at FSM forum. If you think that you, you know nothing about anything.

And...you guessed it....kiss my ass!

This has already become one of my favorite threads.

The fact that you're a composer who went to Berklee (and what did you score, by the way ?) has nothing to do with the fact that you clearly don't really know the history of film music if you think Quincy Jones is not an important composer. He did a lot of scores much superior to some scores by composers who are praised everyday on this forum.

Or may be it is because he's black ?
And I won't kiss your ass, fuck it yourself.

When Quincy Jones got SOLE Screen Credit for Composer...The Other 11 Composers were not happy. lol
It seems that The Color Purple was Temp'd with Georges Delurue's Our Mother's House...George got a whole lot of Cash and Scoring for Amazing Stories (Five Episodes) including the excellent Dorthy and Ben.
Quincy Jones wanted a Jazz score. And Spielberg wanted a sweeping melodies score.

Then I don't understand why Spielberg didn't go with a more obvious choice of composer.
Weird.

Rumor had that Spielberg paid off Delerue as well as hiring him for a segment of Amazing Stories.

I believe if my notes are right..that Quincy Jones and Alice Walker had to be convinced to allow Spielberg to Direct The Color Purple.

That's interesting.
Did Jones and Walker already have another director in mind earlier in the film's development?

The Wayans bros.

He had a bunch of orchestrators.

And found out recently..that Jones only composed 11% of The Color Purple. How bout them Our Mother’s Houses Apples.

Jones is listed as the second, third, or fourth co-composer on every original track on the soundtrack release. He is never listed as the first named composer.

Supposedly, Quincy Jones always leaned heavily on assistants. They included Bobby Scott and Billy Byers.
