Now that the Outer Limits (Season One) is arriving on shiny Blu-ray discs, with hopefully, season Two to follow, will there be any chance of LLL perhaps re-releasing their 3xCD set thats long been OOP or even perhaps a complete new release with more of the cues that didn't make it on the first release?

It would be nice to have some of the Harry Lubin music scores and cues used in the second season of Outer Limits and of course, in the other classic TV series, One Step Beyond.

There are rumours that the Blu-ray set will not have Dominic Frontiere's isolated music tracks which would be such a shame and a wasted opportunity. If true, then let's hope that Season Two will have isolated tracks of Harry Lubins music.

It's not a rumor, and doubtful season two will have any. KINO seems to think commentaries are the big selling point with fans. Cant say it will add much value for old fans, so the biggest bonus feature are optional subtitles. And an episode guide lifted from David Schow's book.

Not on about commentaries though. I'm on about isolated music tracks. Both older and new fans would want that.

uh, yeah, that's what I was responding about. I guess you didnt know the only bonus features are commentaries, subs, and ep guide booklet. It's in the advertising blurb everyone online. Offering up a prayer for the music on FSM isnt going to change KINO.

Jeeeezus man,..get a grip. Offering up a prayer on FSM!! What the heck! Trying to start a civilized conversation about whether their would be any chance of a re-release or even a new release from the ground up now that the Outer Limits is being released in HD.

Just being factual regarding KINO bonus features. And my opinion about the likelihood of season two having any music.
Given the sales history of Frontiere's music, I'm not sure LLL will release more of his music, let alone re-release their OL set.

I get the impression there isnt any isolated music to include from the music stems. I inquired in the OL thread further down the page, but I dont know if Ford Thaxton will see it.

The Lubin music library has been accessible for awhile for licensing. Would any interested label wait for the series anniversary to release it? Or is it too expensive to license? Someone released a few cues on the MORE MUSIC FROM ONE STEP BEYOND cd (which looks like a bootleg). They complained that it cost them alot, but they arent a label. There's a streaming option for some scifi Lubin cues online (used in both tv series):

At this stage, the next step will be to get a Stoney Burke set because it was the stock music for the first season of The Outer Limits.

Doubtful. I mean we can't even get the music of a certain other (and far better) anthology show reissued on cd and it's been on Blu for close to ten years!

What worries me about Stoney Burke is that it clearly contains important Frontiere music and was such a crucial part of OL's musical character... yet it just hasn't surfaced. As they say, I've got a bad feeling about this..... frown

I advise you to read and consult a key book that explains the connection between Stoney Burke and The Outer Limits music:

We Will Control All That You Hear: The Outer Limits and the Aural Imagination
by Reba Wissner

Many cues from Stoney Burke were re-recorded and altered for The Outer Limits,
which imply there is a music library for The Outer Limits that is unreleased.

There are 16 scores of Stoney Burke whose cues are re-used for The Outer Limits.

I dont understand the conclusion that an unreleased OL library exists. The surviving OL music was released on the LLL set, supplied by Frontiere. MV said MGM didnt have any. The only other potential tape source, besides music stems, or the music/effects reels Ford Thaxton mentioned, is something from Stoney Burke. There's no proof any of this still exists.

Show me a legitimate list of greatest television where The Outer Limits appears and is higher than The Twilight Zone then.

Oh wait...you can't.

That music library used to exist but is lost now.

I believe the United Nations voted and compiled a list putting The Outer Limits at number one. Can't argue with that.

By "library" do you mean an actual archive collection, say at MGM? Are you assuming there must have been a library because cues were reused in Rat Patrol and The Fugitive?

Actually Nikki Haley unilaterally replaced the top choice with "The Apprentice."

Back in 1963, Dominic Frontiere re-recorded Stoney Burke cues for The Outer Limits and music supervisor John Elizalde had a library of cues for The Outer Limits.

It's all explained in Reba Wissner's book through figures and official documents.
Each episode has the cues details of the stock music.

Example: “The Zanti Misfits” features, among other things, newly-recorded cues from two SB episodes “Point of Honor" and "The Journey". The martial sound in the episode is from "Point of Honor" but it's re-arranged to fit in the specific mood.

No plans to revisit LIMITS in the foreseeable future. With Mr. Frontiere's passing it makes it quite difficult to deal with now. He controlled the vertical and horizontal, so to speak. smile

As for Season 2 stuff, I honestly gave up years ago.
