I can't speak for any other neighborhood except my own, but because of the area I live in, I learned a long time ago to never underestimate the criminal mind's capacity for retaliation. Sadly, it's not just a cliche.
Revenge isnt restricted to criminals, but maybe their methods are more lethal, giving revenge a bad name.

True. That's why I said criminal minds. More all-encompassing.
Revenge is a general human trait so specifying a subset should be less encompassing....unless you're suggesting it's more prevalent amongst the criminal class? That I wouldnt know. I'd have to educate myself on "perps retaliating" youtube videos.

Maybe it would be more clear if I gave an actual example from my 'hood: Down the street a guy was dealing drugs out of his house. A neighbor calls the police, they crack down on him. He learns who it was, and torches the house of Mr. Police-Caller.
The criminal mind thinks it has the RIGHT to do what it does and then views any interference to its activities as the first act of hostility against it, then retaliates because it thinks it's the wronged party. The situation escalates tit-for-tat because the criminal mind didn't see that its actions were the first wrongful act to begin with.
I was going to say earlier, since you used the word retaliation, that it might be more of a business practice for criminals. Not revenge for revenge sake.

Also a decent song by Gowan, incidentally.
That doesn't make much sense about your neighbour & the dealer finding out who snitched him.
Unless the neighbour bought drugs off him before or upset him being the loud-mouth about what he told someone in your hood or your neighbours friends are associated too score drugs.
Do police out their mention who grassed, that last bit is all I fathom!
