WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 10

TRUST---trailer released for the FX /Danny Boyle series about the kidnapping of billionaire J. Paul Getty's grandson. Donald Sutherland, Hillary Swank and Brendan Fraser star.

Trailer link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ekEfYNQJ1s

ALL THE MONEY IN THE WORLD---Ridley Scott said the actors involved in the reshoots with Christopher Plummer after the Kevin Spacey sex scandal returned for free, "Because of all of them, everyone did it for nothing… I wouldn’t get paid, I refused to get paid. [The actors] all came in free." However, sources claim Mark Wahlberg was paid $1.5 million and Michelle Williams was paid less than $1,000 which is less than 1% of what Wahlberg was paid. Both actors are represented by the same agency, William Morris Endeavor.

ENOLA HOLMES---Millie Bobby Brown (STRANGER THINGS) will star in the movie franchise based on the mystery novels about Enola Holmes, the younger sister of Sherlock Holmes.

TERMINATOR SALVATION---Christian Bale reflected on starring in the disappointing sequel, “I said no three times. I thought that the franchise…I went ‘Nah, there’s no story there.’ I’d seen the first one and enjoyed that back in England, I’d been to the movies and seen the second one. It was an unfortunate series of events involving the writers’ strike, involving [Jonathan Nolan], who was able to come on, and really start to write a wonderful script, but then got called away for a prior commitment that he had. And it’s a great thorn in my side, because I wish we could have reinvigorated [the franchise]. And unfortunately, during production, you could tell that wasn’t happening. It’s a great shame.”

KITTY PRYDE---Tim Miller (DEADPOOL) is developing a Kitty Pryde X-Men spinoff movie.

SNOWPIERCER---TNT ordered the Jennifer Connelly tv series based on the post-apocalyptic graphic novel and movie that starred Chris Evans.

HULU---Hulu cancelled CHANCE and ordered a 12-episode horror anthology series from Blumhouse Television.

LES MISERABLES---BBC six-part miniseries underway based on the Victor Hugo novel with David Oyelowo, Lily Collins and Dominic West starring.

ANNA AND THE APOCALYPSE---comedy horror musical movie underway about a teenage girl and her classmates battling a zombie plague in their small English village.

HIGH IN THE CLOUDS---animated movie underway based on the Paul McCartney children's book. McCartney is expected to provide the voice for one character. Original songs will be recorded by artists include Lady Gaga.

TRIVIA---in KOLCHAK: NIGHT STALKER, Jack Grinnage played reporter Ron Updyke, who was Carl Kolchak's newsroom foil. After he left acting, Grinnage became a prop maker. His most famous prop was John Malkovich's rabbit's foot which carried bullets for the gun he shot Clint Eastwood with in IN THE LINE OF FIRE.
Jeff Rice, the Las Vegas newspaper reporter, whose unpublished novel inspired two hit Kolchak tv movies, two Kolchak tv series and THE X-FILES, died in obscurity in 2015.

The story editor and writer on KOLCHAK: THE NIGHT STALKER was David Chase on went on to create THE SOPRANOS.

Dragon, the Michelle Williams comma in the $ field is a bit confusing, notation-wise. I take it you mean $10,000? That's more like 2/3 of a percentage point. You could buy roughly 500 soundtracks for that, less shipping.

Wahlberg could get 75,000 soundtrack CDs, on average. That's 150x more CDs than Williams could buy, on average. Hey, you could make a math question for kids - "Mark can listen to more CDs than Michelle . . . "

GRECCHUS:

Thanks for pointing that out. Michelle Williams got paid less than one thousand dollars.

If that is true, as reported, then that is seriously messed up.

That's how you do it, Hollywood. You don't change the sex of the lead, you find a something connected to it or invent a new relation.

Now, just don't fuck it up in other ways.

Dragon's summary seems misleading according to what I heard. As explained, everyone was asked to do it for free, and she assumed everyone was doing this. The actors got free meals, and that's the $1000 compensation. Either Wahlberg wanted to get paid, or the agency thought he should but didnt insist she get paid.

I haven't seen your version in the articles I read---obviously there are different versions about the reshoot payments.

I read in the Metro paper about the updated figures. We're not actually talking about what the actors received in contractual terms for the main body of work on the feature itself (a different story), but a gratuity for filling in holes. I don't really put a great deal of weight on these stories. It seems All The Money In The World is being milked in a way that typifies this age, one way or another.

What I heard this morning is that she said she would do it for free, any time, anywhere.

But regardless of whether one or more agreed to do it for free, "equal pay" is a misnomer. You get what you get based on star power, draw, acting abilities and what you and/or your agency negotiates.

Not everything is about race, sex, and religion in real life.

Actors don't get paid based on acting abilities. That's for sure.

Agreed. Marky Mark's brother Donnie, however, has always done quality work.

We have Weinstein and other yet-to-be-known Weinstein's to thank for that. Pushing these people out because they did him a "favor". At least, that's what it looks like after reading about some of the names of accusers from Weinstein...

Was Jennifer Lawrence a Weinstein victim? Seems like she was on the Amazon homepage for decades with that Hunger Games crap (which we never discuss on this forum thankyouverymuch!)

So, back in the day, Sean Young wasn't really a psycho, just a girl who knew who she wanted to touch her and who she didn't and let people know it.
I'm seeing the word 'difficult' in a whole new light.

Heard it on NPR. I didnt mean to imply you personally misrepresented anything - I assume it's your source. NPR probably doesnt have all the facts either.

No way she didn't provide some fringe benefits.

Re. The Wahlberg tidbit.

Saw this just a moment ago.
As with all buzzfeed, approach with a car-sized grain of salt.
