...mainly about Williams(Right before his oscar win for Jaws).... but a few mentions about Herrmann, which it states that he won his oscar for Citizen KANE!
Can you find any other factual errors in the article? This could be FUN! big grin

Factually inaccurate NY Times articles? Really? Like that's never happened before in decades.

Considering this article is from 1976, you're not wrong I guess.

Too bad we didn't see this when it was published, presumably in the Arts section. Then we could have written to show them the error of their ways and set the record(s) straight. In recent years, however, for no known reason, the Times' Sunday Arts & Leisure section has stopped running a Letters section, virtually assuring that, at least where the arts are concerned, the "Newspaper of Record" has no accountability. Occasionally, a matter of fact will be addressed in the little Corrections section, but no disagreements with the Times' arguments has an outlet any more.

from the article itself

"At Universal Studios, there is talk among composers and studio executives alike about the contribution (largely unnoticed by the critics) that John Williams's score made to the success of “Jaws.” When the Academy Awards are given out tomorrow night, there is a strong likelihood that Williams will walk off with the Oscar for best original score."

was in 1976 a day before the oscar ceremonies which was held on March 29, 1976
