Just very occasionally I actually wish I was fifteen years older than I am, just to have been able to appreciate the cool in that as it happened. Or is it only cool in retrospect? Did those cats really dig it at the time? They sure looked like they did.

After googling, I see and understand. I was never that into jazz back then. Grusin I guess was my first. I didn't really know who any musicians or composers were until around 1968 when I was 11 years old and first started buying LP Movie Soundtracks in the cut out bins at Woolworth. It was at that time I first saw SPARTACUS on TV and was totally moved by Alex North's score. Boom! Hooked on film scores.
BTW, McFarland released a version of the tune from the Fresca commercial under the title "Flea Market," on his LP "Does the Sun Really Shine on the Moon." Not sure offhand which came first.
