Again, removing The Conversation is crazy! It's key to the whole score! I do like that you retained Advance Scout Greeting, though. I did move that in the sequence so that it comes right before The Conversation, though. I took "Inside" off because it causes the whole CE3K to flag as 1980 on my iPhone and that drives me crazy (see also: The E.T. Adventure).

I certainly agree that objectively "The Conversation" is key to the entire score... but if we're being honest, I pretty much skip it every time I listen to the album, it's more functional within the movie than it is as a separate listening experience.

Yes, that's how I feel about it. "The Conversation" is wonderful in context of the film, but it doesn't flow well with the rest of the music on the album. (IMHO)

Here's where I go crazy and cross-fade a lot of tracks into longer suites.

22 & 21 Jump Street

Previously On Jump Street-Truck Gunfight- Jump Street
Jenko's Dream-Olympic Hazing Game-The Breakup
Golf Cart Chase-Separation-End of a Relationship
Reunited-Spring Break-Schidt Saves Jenko
End Credits
Back Together-Arrival at Police Academy-Park Chase
Korean Jesus-Track Meet-Asking Molly To The Prom-Running Out Of Time
Fired-Shoot Out-Walters Holds Molly Hostage
We Did It- The Kiss
End Credits

Edit: Perhaps Cross-faders don't equal Whittlers? I'll stick with Whittlers so I stay OT.

I'm all good with the crossfades. Ever since learning Garage Band last year for my podcast, I've been using this program for creating custom suites and crossfades as well, to help with custom album presentations.

I prefer to keep the "conversation" short and sweet.

Haha dammit man. CE3K is one of the scores that I can't delete a note from (in the 1977 version, at least)

I play nearly every score in its entirety, but there are occasions when I don't have the time to listen to everything. For those cases, I create "album" presentations.

Predator (46 mins)
1. Main Title
2. Something Else
3. The Truck
4. The Waiting
5. The Girl's Escape
6. We're All Gonna Die
7. Battle Plans
8. Hand to Hand Combat
9. Predator's Big Finish
10. The Rescue and End Title

Innerspace (44 mins)
1. Main Title
2. State of the Art/The Charge
3. Take Him Home/Broken Toe
4. Optic Nerves
5. The Cowboy
6. Gas Attack
7. Out of the Pod
8. Where Am I?
9. The Womb
10. Transformed
11. Stop The Car
12. Disengage

I can't hunt down the post with my Innerspace tracklist, nor is it still in iTunes. I'll have to conjure it from the depths of my memory.

I did a few 43 minutes lp program for PREDATOR.
track numbers from 2010 Intrada cd

2,3,6,9
5,15,17,18

The labels get a lot of heat for cross-fading tracks but by golly (IMHO) a whole bunch of short cues needed to be strung together to make musical sense on this album.

Star Trek 4: The Voyage Home- The Voyage Home (Expanded)

Logo/Main Title
Starfleet Command/On Vulcan/Spock (Cross-faded these tracks)
The Probe
The Probe - Transition/The Take-Off/Menace of the Probe/Clouds and Water (Cross-faded these tracks)
Time Travel (Shortened the cue)
In San Francisco (Made some kind of edit which I don't recall)
Chekov's Run -album ending (I preferred the ending on the OST Version)
Gillian Seeks Kirk
Hospital Chase
The Whaler
Crash/Whale Fugue (Shortened segue)
Kirk Freed
Home Again/End Credits
Main Title Alt & Whale Fugue Alt (Fan edit alt track suite.)

Total Time 30:15

Not a huge fan of Deep Rising, but it has it's moments. I did a hatchet job on it. Cut a lot out, numerous cross-fading, and moving cues around.

Deep Rising Expanded

Underwater Grave , The Saipan-The Screen, The Ship- Wallet Overboard
No Gentleman-Pit Stop- Boarding The Ship
On The Road , Dragged Under- The Ottoio- Surfing
I'm Out Of Here- Main Title Original- Lurking Monster
Wall Of Water- Last Meal
Where Are The Keys- Leila's Gone- The Flare Gun
Not Too Fast- Not Every Day- The Shirt
E Ride- Hang On, End Title
Hang On / Deserted Isle / End Credits

Total Time: 45:58

I have the three volumes of McCreary's DA VINCI'S DEMONS, clocking in at 5 hours(!) combined. Has anyone tried to whittle these down, either into three more feasible volumes, or one super-volume containing highlights from all three?

Haha, I hear ya Thor.
I've got the bumper La La box-sets of BUFFY, DS9 & VOYAGER to tackle!
It can be quite daunting.

Indeed. As I said on an earlier page, I have a looooong list of 'whittle projects' to deal with. But it's so time-consuming. First I need to familiarize myself with all the music, then I need to find the highlights or good 'connective' tissue tracks that make it a good listening experience, then I need to arrange them in iTunes (which isn't the best player for such editing activities).

So I tend to postpone it, listening to my albums that are 'properly arranged' from the get-go instead.

Oh, these first world problems....

Cos I Love Yers...and You Demanded it, here's my 'Classic Varese Highlights' edition of...

HERO by George Fenton

4. Gale Gayley For Ch4 News
5. Looking For The Truth
6. The Plane Crash
7. He Said, I'll Save Your Father
9. Million Dollar Reward
13. Reunion
14. Angel Of Flight 104
16. The Ledge (1,2,3)
17. Lady, I Ain't The Type
18. A Pair Of Shoes

It runs about 27 minutes. You can add the Luther Vandross song or a Gershwin source cue for extra variety or length.

Haha this is around the time where I jumped off the JNH train (at least in that I stopped listening to EVERY score he did), so I don't know this score at all! All of the scores you mention as signposts make me want to hear this immediately, though.
