...that have NOTHING to do with Christmas! Can you name them all? I can only think of Frosty the Snowman, Winter Wonderland, Sleigh Ride and Jingle Bells. What are some others?
As I posted in that thrift store thread, I just got WIlliams' Harry Potter score... never heard a note of it, and as I was typing my initial post on this thread, that "Christmas" song started playing.... never heard THAT before either... that is one fucking CREEPY "Christmas" song!
This is a long shot, but... "December Snow" by the Moodies. It's on their actual Christmas album, but the song itself makes no mention of Christmas or Santa or Baby Jesus. Great song, too. I like it all-year-round.
I suppose there are lots of Christmas songs that don't actually mention Christmas. Some might be When A Child Is Born, A Winter's Tale and Walking In The Air.
In fact, many department stores have a policy now of only playing invariably bland non-religious Xmas songs, lest the overly PC 'pea under the mattress' princesses decide to be offended. When you consider the wealth of carols over the centuries, this amounts to tragedy. There's nothing more disheartening than hearing 'I saw Mummy Kissing Santa Claus' or Eartha Kitt for the umpteenth time warbling out 'Hurry Down the Chimney Tonight'. I leave such stores early.
One reassures oneself that it's from a pagan festival originally anyhow.
