STAR TREK---Quentin Tarantino has "a great idea" for a new STAR TREK movie and is working with JJ Abrams to set up a writers room at Paramount Pictures to develop the movie. Tarantino might direct the movie with Abrams as producer.
In 2015, Tarantino said, “You could take some of the great classic STAR TREK episodes and easily expand them to ninety minutes or more and really do some amazing stuff!” This led to speculation that Tarantino might use a tv episode as a basis for the movie.
Tarantino said his favorite episode was "The City on the Edge of Forever" from the original series which he said was “one of the classic stories of all time" and starred Joan Collins. His second favorite episode was "Yesterday's Enterprise" from THE NEXT GENERATION.

STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI---Digital Sputnik, a company that supplied lighting equipment to MARY MAGDALENE and ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS STORY, may have accidentally confirmed that Yoda is in THE LAST JEDI. The company posted, and later removed, "We’ve just realised we have illuminated Jesus AND Yoda".

JAMES BOND---Hugh Jackman commented on turning down the chance to follow Pierce Brosnan as the next James Bond, “I was about to do X-MEN 2 and a call came from my agent asking if I’d be interested in Bond. I just felt at the time that the scripts had become so unbelievable and crazy, and I felt like they needed to become grittier and real. And the response was: ‘Oh, you don’t get a say. You just have to sign on.’ I was also worried that between Bond and ‘X-Men,’ I’d never have time to do different things.”

ALIEN---Ridley Scott repeated comments that the next sequel will focus on artificial intelligence instead of creatures and gore, “I think what we have to do is gradually drift away from the alien stuff. People say, ‘You need more alien, you need more face pulling, need more chest bursting,’ so I put a lot of that in COVENANT and it fitted nicely. But I think if you go again you need to start finding another solution that’s more interesting. I think AI is becoming much more dangerous and therefore more interesting.”

BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY---20th Century Fox fired director Bryan Singer from the Freddie Mercury biomovie. Sources said Singer did not return to the set after Thanksgiving, had clashed with star Remi Malik and was "suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder". Singer said he was caring for a sick parent and said his differences with Malik had been settled.

BABY DRIVER---Edgar Wright said he's writing the sequel, “Those talks are already in the works. The deal is being hammered out as we speak. So, hopefully, I’m going to at least write a second one. I’ve definitely got lots of ideas. Whether it’s the next movie, I don’t know. Those talks are already in the works. The deal is being hammered out as we speak. So, hopefully, I’m going to at least write a second one. I’ve definitely got lots of ideas. Whether it’s the next movie, I don’t know."

SHOOTER---USA Network renewed the series for Season 3 which will be based on the BLACK LIGHT novel.

SILENT LIFE---Rudolph Valentino biomovie underway starring Paul Maslansky, Isabella Rossellini, Franco Nero and Terry Moore. Moore will play the Lady in Black who placed a red rose on Valentino's grave every year.

When you look at those mechanical bodies doing tumbles (for the moment) all you have to do is imagine them handling heavy machine guns to realise they're more like Terminators. If you had an army of those with the sort of AI neural network learning aids we hear about today, the Alien creature would be the second best feared badass of all time. Sure, you could down them with heavy calibre fire and explosives. But if they could roam around in bombed out city environments in hand to hand combat, if one failed to turn up after a sortie, another could be sent out in its stead. And that just covers the ground fighting units. Heavy metal against flesh and blood. Puts a new dastardly twist on that oft used military term: fire and forget. They're now plug 'n play friendly!

I have an idea: how about just leaving it well enough alone. We've got more than enough Alien movies as it is.

The Tarantino Star Trek project is somewhat exciting, it was certainly be different.
Paramount would really have to keep the lid on his R rated tendencies though.

Wasn't Jimmy Cameron already droning on about that earlier this week? Sheesh.

Ridley Scott plagiarizes David Maloney's work; and now he rips off James Cameron's thoughts.

STAR TREK---In 2015, Tarantino said, “You could take some of the great classic STAR TREK episodes and easily expand them to ninety minutes or more and really do some amazing stuff!”

Here's an idea, Quentin: set your time machine back 40 years when everyone was already thinking that.

And, sadly, Digital Sputnik was never heard from again.

ALIEN---Ridley Scott repeated comments that the next sequel will focus on artificial intelligence instead of creatures and gore, “I think what we have to do is gradually drift away from the alien stuff.”

Sounds good, Rid.
You already drifted Moses over into Robin Hood.

I'd be interested in what Harlan Ellison has to say about this.

Harlan would hate it for sure, and would hate any changes to it if they turned it into a movie.
I can see it working though, and Tarantino is always interested in portraying Nazi's

Tarantino doing Star Trek would be as kool as Snyder doing Star Trek. And I'm so tired of everyone giving that overrated sappy soap opera episode such high marks. If I want to see Joan Collins in something, I'd watch The Bitch. wink

It could be that Tarantino has seen episodes of Discovery with the Klingons crushing heads underfoot and 'effing and jeffing' in the dialogue and thought "mmmm, there may be something in this for me...."

Get ready for the blood spattered foul mouthed Kirk on his communicator saying F*****G beam us up Scotty you as***le!

Personally I WAS more looking forward to the very, very distant possibility that Peter Jackson would actually direct an episode of Doctor Who.

You know what I want to see (and Hollywood doesn't)?

Somebody with talent and promise who has ideas and a drive to create something for a franchise that isn't some dude who's made this or that movie and is aname name in Hollywood.

And am I the only one sick and tired of seeing that blonde chick image from the J.J.-verse?

Initially I thought I had suffered a stroke, but I finally found a "report" of the alleged incident which clarified just which gender "Timothy" actually identifies as. I'd never heard of "Melanie Martinez" before this thread was posted, and I don't believe you hip bastards ever mentioned her*, either.

*Apologies in advance if I am presumptuous in assigning Melanie Martinez a gender with which Melanie does not "identify."

Yeesh, this Political Correctness crap is like walking on egg shells, I mean "like walking on embryonic outer layers."

Considering how that third nuTrek movie came and went like the Enterprise at Warp Speed--even at this Trek-worshipping forum-- the likes of Quentin Tarantino should work wonders.

Nu Trek wasn't really any different than TOS/NG after WOK & VH. The studio simply put a ton of money into flashy effects, which caught the short attention span of the average viewer for one and a half movies.

I stick with the original 1966-69 series (and The Cage, which I find myself appreciating more and more as I gradually age and approach death).

Of me; it's one of the only good things from the JJ-verse
