Like many other Hollywood directors, James Cameron has returned to the studio with his team in order to remaster catalog titles in Dolby Vision. TITANIC has returned to the big screen at select Dolby theatres in the U.S. as of Friday, December 1.
“Seeing a film that everybody knows, but seeing it in HDR in 3-D with proper light levels on a Dolby Vision laser projector—it’s really a glimpse of the future. . . . We had the whole film remastered in HDR, and it’s stunning. It’s beyond 70 millimeter, it’s beyond any format that you’ve seen before,” James Cameron told Vanity Fair, referring to the remastered version of TITANIC.
My only issue is that the Dolby Cinema I tend to go to really cranks up the sound. BR2049 was a bit unbearable in places as a result, but holy shit the picture was gorgeous.
